Latin America’s imports of finished steel products from China surge in Q1

According to data released by the Latin American Steel Association (Alacero), Latin America's imports of finished steel products from China totaled 952,000 tons in the first quarter of this year, rising by 9.2% year on year.

In the first quarter of this year, Brazil, Chile and Peru was the major destination for the Chinese finished steel products, accounting for 48% of the Chines finished steel exports to the region.

Meanwhile, the exports of Chinese finished steel products to Venezuela rose by 11.3%; those Colombia jumped by 76% and those to Dominica surged by 252%, all compared to the figures in the same period of a year ago.
